MicroTCA systems are not just attractive where an AdvancedTCA system would be an oversized solution. They are also recommended in general wherever high computing capacity and high-speed data transfer are required. Other benefits include a significant reduction in development costs and time-to-market compared with proprietary solutions, along with more compact dimensions and increased flexibility compared with existing bus systems (VME, CompactPCI).
