Varistar LHX3Up to 3 kW cabinet heat removal with air/water heat exchanger |
|
An alternative cabinet cooling solution with add-on cooling systems is the use of an air/water heat exchanger (AWHE) within the cabinet. This approach reduces noise significantly, while providing a stream of cool air uniformly to all electronic components throughout the cabinet. No costly airflow system is required to direct air to the components, while air short-circuits - whereby newly cooled air is sucked back into the cooling unit without having reached the components - are eliminated.

For applications in industry as well as in instrumentation and control systems, the new Varistar LHX 3 from Schroff offers an optimally-configured complete cabinet solution including an AWHE with a cooling capacity of up to 3 kW. The cooling system functions independently of its surroundings and is not influenced by them; similarly, the surrounding environment is not polluted by noise and expelled heat.
The heated air is drawn away by a fan in the top cover of the cabinet, then guided downwards through air channels in the side panels to the heat exchanger, where it is cooled. The cold air is then introduced back into the cabinet from below. The system produces only a very low noise level of 45.2 dB(A). The cabinet conforms to protection type IP55 and is designed for a maximum static load of 800 kg on the 19" plane. With a width of 600 mm and a depth of 800 mm, the useable height available is 34 or 38 U, depending on the version. The heat exchanger and water supply are integrated into the plinth and do not affect the electronic components housed in the cabinet in any way. |
