A co-ordinated service strategy becomes a complete system

From a technical point of view, product lifecycles are becoming shorter. Products are becoming more complex and require more explanation, and thus from a service perspective also more demanding. Support and additional services have become as important to the customer as a high-quality product. A high level of service is by far no longer a mere extra but rather a standard that every customer expects. Customers are increasingly seeking complete solutions that cover the entire lifecycle of products, among them complete AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, CompactPCI, VME, VME64x, PXI and VXS systems.

In order to increase the transparency of its services, Schroff has strategically arranged all its pre-sales and after-sales services and brought them together under the umbrella name "ServicePLUS". ServicePLUS consists of the following eight modules: configuration, assembly, modification, solution, express, support, academy and lifecycle. With ServicePLUS Schroff accompanies its customers throughout the life of the product.
ServicePLUS configuration: Building complete systems, individually and without complications Schroff's microcomputer systems are based on a platform concept - as are most of its other products. Customers may build an individual product out of an almost unlimited pool of standard components. This flexibility, and the large number of combination possibilities, can be clearly seen both in the Schroff catalogue and in the online shop. The customer is supported throughout the configuration process by online interactive configurators or enquiry forms that are specific to the standard for which the system is being built. All basic data and additional requirements are established by this means and thus an individual system configured - fast, without complications and orientated to its intended application. Continuous plausibility monitoring ensures that using this system is absolutely reliable. The customer immediately receives a complete item list including all order numbers, and within 24 hours an individual quotation. If, however, the customer prefers not to use the Internet, the requisite support for configuration can be found in the catalogue along with the printed ServicePLUS tables. ServicePLUS assembly: Pre-assembled systems, ready to go This service module covers the construction of mechanical, electrical and electronic components, including backplanes, power supply units, socket strips, fan units, etc, by Schroff's in-house experts. The customer obtains a ready-assembled product that includes all internal and accessory parts. This saves the customer considerable time, avoiding the need, for example, to study assembly instructions, and as soon as the product is in place he can proceed with his work. |

ServicePLUS modification: Complete systems tailored individually
Standard products have two major advantages: ordering them is simple, and they can be delivered quickly. All the same, products must often be adapted to specific conditions or be modified with, for example, extra holes, cut-outs, printing or special colours. All this is possible with the modification module. The complete system is individually tailored, be it mechanical factors or in relation to the design. This ServicePLUS module also includes a front panel customising service called Front Panel Fast Track. Customers can even check the cost of customised front panels by means of a price calculator on the Schroff website. First, basic data for the panel is entered - for example height, width, number of holes and cut-outs, required level of EM shielding, type of finish, lacquering and screen printing, and accessories are selected (types of sleeve and neck collar screws, shielding material). The customer opts whether the accessories are to be pre-assembled or not. By then clicking on the "Calculate Price" button, a table of prices for various quantities and possible delivery times is displayed. Clicking the "Send PDF by e-mail" button will send a PDF version of the quote immediately to the customer's e-mail address. |

ServicePLUS solution: The one-stop shop for system integration
Electronic packaging is more than empty cabinets and cases. At Schroff we understand it to mean the integration of the electromechanical and electronic components such as EM shielding measures, cabling, switches, backplanes, power supplies, monitoring units, and cooling systems into a complete overall system. The user thus obtains a type of plug-and-play product. The starting point for any such integration are the customer's requirements, which in turn result from the specification and general conditions in which the system is to operate. Schroff undertakes the entire project management and advises the customer from the initial specification and design through purchase, prototype manufacture, testing and checking through to actual product manufacture, including logistics and after-sales service. Customers profit from dealing with only a single supplier and a single order that covers the entire enclosures requirements. At the same time they have the opportunity to concentrate more closely on their own core competencies. |

Even "high-end" modifications of standard products, that in some circumstances may require substantial additional or new development, are covered by this service. A team of applications engineers will implement all customer-specific requirements in the mechanical, electrical and electronics areas, drawing on extensive know-how.
ServicePLUS express: When it's got to be fast High on many a customer's wish-list are short delivery times. Both for the prototype and for series products, the decisive factor, along with flexibility, is the time to delivery. The express module of ServicePLUS is here for this reason. A dedicated project management for rush orders, express manufacturing and assembly lines and the services of fast delivery partners together form the time-optimised supply chain in Schroff's production facilities. This module is available as an option in conjunction with the ServicePLUS assembly, modification, solution and support modules. ServicePLUS support: Fixing problems round the clock Even the best quality management cannot offer 100 % protection against errors or product problems. The goal of effective fault isolation is always to be within the customer's reach and to offer short response times. With "high-availability" products in particular, such as AdvancedTCA or MicroTCA systems, it is important to keep downtimes and hence also the associated costs to the customer as low as possible. Error analyses are performed remotely or by a technician on site and a solution is found in the shortest possible time. The customer can choose the service level required from a series of steps in terms of accessibility and response time, or time to solution. ServicePLUS academy: Spreading useful knowledge Sound knowledge of the manufacturer's technologies and products also on the part of the customer's own employees and service personnel is a key factor for the smooth running of their applications. Schroff's special training and in-service options provide suitable conditions for a fruitful knowledge transfer to customers and other interested parties. Together with events covering products and technologies such as AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA seminars, specific training for developers, service technicians and operations personnel are available. These events may take place either at Schroff's training centre or on the customer's premises. This ServicePLUS is rounded off by webinars, webcasts and white papers available from Schroff online. ServicePLUS lifecycle: With you for the entire life of the product The last of the eight ServicePLUS modules covers customer care and support over the entire lifecycle of the product: from delivery to recycling. Depending on the requirements of the customer, an individual lifecycle package can be created by selecting from the following services: delivery to point of use, commissioning, extension of warranty, maintenance, repair, replacement parts, modernising and recycling. |

Basic requests such as delivery to point of use also include the setting up and commissioning of complex products. A similarly valuable element of this service is consistent maintenance and the replacement in good time of sensitive components such as fans or fan modules. This can prolong both the service life of the products and also the validity of the warranty.
The repair and replacement parts service can also be made to measure. Since for products in high-availability applications not only fault diagnosis but also the fastest possible solution is important, Schroff sets up customer-specific stock reserves and/or provides substitute equipment for use while components are being repaired. For Schroff environmental protection has always been of the highest priority, and this service module is therefore completed with an environmentally sustainable recycling process at the end of the product's lifecycle. Schroff takes care of the often complex chain of processes for the disposal of products after their useful lives. Schroff thus stays with its products and its customers consistently throughout the life of the product, providing support in specific areas as required or with an all-inclusive "worry-free" package. |
