The IEC 60529 defines the IP types of protection of enclosures against dust and water as well as the protection of people against dangers. The IP protection is formed from two digits. The first defines the degree of protection against foreign bodies (ranging from a single finger contact to dust penetration). The second digit indicates the degree of protection against water penetration.
