EMC - Follow the Schroff route to first time compliance
Schroff holds perhaps the widest and most comprehensive portfolio of EMC enclosure products and systems in the industry. From cabinets to cases, form chassis units to subracks, from power supplies to completely integrated MPS systems - these are all available now!
Major emphasis has been placed on the preparation of support / test documentation and all products by Schroff are supported by a relevant test document. A more detailed review of test procedure and set-up can be found inside each test document. The net result of all this is that, the customer, can make an accurate design assessment of your system in order to achieve total and final product compliance. In addition to providing basic test data for the product concerned, this documentation provides a full guide to shielding effectiveness. Shielding effectiveness can be explained by the following formula: SE = E1 - E2, where
E1 is the measured radiated emissions for the test antennae.
E2 is the same measurements with the antennae inside the enclosure under test.

What is the CE mark?
All electrical and electronic units or systems which are marketed in the EC must carry the CE sign.
The CE sign is not, however, a special EMC certificate. It covers various standards for different products. With the CE sign, the manufacturer or importer is confirming that his product conforms with the relevant EC standards. The responsibility for the declaration of conformity lies however with the manufacturer or importer and not with bodies such as BS, TUV of GS. The user must therefore ensure that his unit carries the CE sign and he is allowed to use this only in the specified environment, e.g. industrial or residential area. Important: The CE sign provides purely indirect protection for the user; it is principally attached to the product for the official body which controls the market. Liability and responsibility: In the field of electromagnetic compatibility the manufacturer certifies the conformity of his product with the European EMC standards by attaching the CE sign.

Random checks are carried out to ensure that the protection requirements are adhered to. If the protection requirements are not adhered, the product may be taken out of circulation and a fine imposed. the product liability laws are fully enforceable in EC law and it is imperative that a product achieves total compliance before being taken to the marketplace.
