Cable ducting for highest requirements

Cables and mains wiring play a large role as connections for energy and control in the machine and equipment manufacturing market sector. Harsh industrial surroundings demand cable ducting, which offers protection against dust, humidity and mechanical strains. Extensive, conforming to standards and user specific

With regard to the cable ducting requirement SIG Pack SAPAL SA, Ecublens/Lausanne, decided upon Hoffman products. SAPAL, who have been active in packaging for more than 90 years and are part of the SIG department packaging technology, support their leading position. The offer includes packaging machines, conveyor belt systems and memory devices for the packing of e.g. chocolate products, sugar cubes, stock cubes, cheese triangles and bakery products. Thanks to the large variety, SAPAL can not only fulfil the requirements of smaller producers, but also satisfy the demand of a big food company, that required a complete packaging line with a conveyor belt system, single packaging, grouping and boxing.

Technical and economic advantages

Ten years ago, one of our American customers required the Hoffman cable ducting, says Jean-Marc Trouillet, buyer at SIG Pack SAPAL. Since that time Hoffman belong to our main suppliers in this sector. Last year we compared the different products and offers, to make the right decision for our annual cable ducting requirement. Decisive for SIG Pack were the technical as well as the economic factors. On the one hand the cable ducting had to facilitate an easy and quick installation. The complex packaging systems are built up and tested in the production hall, then dismantled, transported to the customers and rebuilt there. On the other hand SIG Pack looked for a partner, who also offered and guaranteed, as global player, corresponding prices, production and stock capacities and world wide regional support.

Variety makes for flexibility

In addition, the variety of duct elements that can be laid in three dimensional arrangement opens the possibility for SIG Pack to realise customer specific packaging systems with standard components flexibly and quickly. This applies also for complicated cabling configurations. The ducting is available in 64mm x 64mm to 305mm x 152mm inner cross sections and in the lengths of 25mm to 3.048mm; brackets, cross and reduction parts complete the program with regard to flexibility, At SIG Pack SAPAL, the cable ducting elements are part of the CAD database of the engineers and therefore support the development of customer specific systems right from the planning phase.

In general Hoffman offers steel-, high grade steel and fibre optic ducts enabling them to provide the correct products for demanding requirements in the food and petrochemical industries. The steel version is delivered in RAL 7042 (grey). SIG Pack has decided upon high-grade steel as well as steel version.
Within the new delivery concept, SIG PACK plans the installation of the proven Hoffman cable duct at other subsidiaries too.
